Hi! I'm Gianluca Gueli

Welcome to my web page! I'm actually a computer science student at the University of Bologna, and I'm currently working on my thesis about RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation).

In this blog, I'll share my university experiences and tips, as well as the projects I have done.

Thesis writing tools

Thesis on Latex

TeX is a text layout system designed to ensure the aesthetic quality of the document. LaTeX is a collection of macros for TeX that make it easier to write TeX documents.

I suggest to use Overleaf's Code Editor to write your thesis.
Here you can find the template that i use for my bachelor degree thesis.

AI tools

Today, LLMs have become very useful tools, but they require caution in their use.

As early as 1975, computer scientist Joseph Weizenbaum made a prescient observation while studying interactions with ELIZA, an early natural language processing program. He noted the profound emotional connection users formed with the computer and their tendency to anthropomorphize it, despite its relatively simple programming.
In his work, "The Power of Computers and Human Reason," he wrote:

"The decisions made by the general public about emerging technologies depend much more on what the public attributes to those technologies than on what they actually are or can or cannot do."

As we navigate the era of increasingly sophisticated AI, Weizenbaum's early warnings serve as a timely reminder. While embracing the potential of these tools, it is essential to remain mindful of their inherent limitations and the human tendency to attribute capabilities beyond their actual functions to them.

Where having made this dutiful promise, here is the list of useful tools:
